In April 2024, RealityBlurb shared that production for RHOBH allegedly gave Dorit Kemsley an ultimatum: either share the truth about her crumbling marriage or she’ll be demoted to a friend of the series instead of a full-time Housewife. Although her friendship with Kyle Richards was flailing, production cared more about her honesty surrounding her marriage, like their tax issues and fidelity.
In Season 13, Kemsley’s marriage to Paul “PK” Kemsley was falling apart due to differing schedules and communication struggles. Fans saw the couple meet with marriage counselors to figure out their issues. And while Kemsley told Andy Cohen that her marriage was “stronger than ever,” the reality was different.

There's no doubt that Kyle Richards lives a very comfortable life, and fans are curious about where the source of her wealth actually comes from.
The Daily Mail reported that after months of living apart when PK was in London, he temporarily moved into the Beverly Hills Hotel amid marital issues. A source told the Daily Mail more about the ins and outs of their flawed marriage and how it would affect filming.
“[Dorit] wants to be a full-time cast member on the show, but she does not want to explain that she is on a break with PK and he has temporarily moved out of the house.”
The source continued, “She really does not want to be seen as a single mother in Beverly Hills, because once you are labeled that you don’t get invited to as many parties, you lose friends, you are an insider.”
Exposing the highs and lows of her marriage could make things worse for the couple, but losing out on being a Housewife would be a major shift for Kemsley.
If production gave Kemsley an ultimatum, they got their wish when she announced her separation from PK. In a statement on Instagram, Kemsley wrote, “We as a couple have been subject to a lot of speculation about our marriage, We have had our struggles over the last few years and continue to work through them as two people who love each other and share two amazing children together."
"To safeguard our deep friendship and maintain a harmonious environment for our children we have made the mutual and difficult decision to take some time apart and re-evaluate our relationship while we prioritize our children."
Kemsley ended the statement by saying “We appreciate your love and support while we continue to do the work necessary throughout this journey.”
